Dr. Raafat Mansour

Raafat R. Mansour received the B.Sc and M.Sc degrees from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in 1977 and 1981, respectively, and the Ph.D degree from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 1986, all in electrical engineering.

He was a research associate at the Laboratoire d'Electromagnetisme, Institut National Polytechnique, Grenoble, France in 1981. From 1983 to 1986 he was a Research and Teaching Assistant with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Waterloo. He joined COM DEV Ltd. Cambridge, Ontario, Canada in 1986, where he held several technical and management positions in the Corporate Research and Development Department.  He was the recipient of COM DEV’s Outstanding Achievement Award in 1991 and COM DEV’s CEO Special Award in 1994.  He was promoted to a Scientist in 1998.  In January 2000, Dr. Mansour joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Waterloo as a Full Professor.

Dr. Mansour is a Fellow of the IEEE.  He holds 23 US and Canadian patents.  He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario. He leads a research group consisting of 20 Ph.D and M.Sc graduate students, research engineers and post doctoral fellows.   He holds an NSERC Industrial Research Chair on RF Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
